It is with great sadness that we have learned of the tragic loss of one of our students. Riley Morris, a student in 7th grade, passed away this week. Riley was part of our Bear family and was special to us. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Riley’s family. Members of the Richland Community Churches, along with school counselors, are available to help students and staff deal with their feelings and emotions. Contact a local church or the school’s office for more information. Please realize that reactions can be varied and can depend upon such factors as age, personality, and previous losses. Any changes in your child’s behavior related to this tragedy, should be brought to the attention of the school counselors.

Richland R-IV will dismiss classes tomorrow, Friday, June 18th. Our U.S. Congress and the President of the United States have enacted June 19th as a federal holiday, Juneteenth, to be observed this year on Friday, June 18th. This day will not be made up on the summer school schedule this year, but, we will develop our calendar to include it for summer school in 2022. To learn more about Juneteenth, visit: https://www.britannica.com/topic/Juneteenth

If your child is eligible for free or reduced price meals, you are eligible for the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Emergency Broadband Benefit Program (EBB Program). This also includes Community Eligibility Provision school students, for which Richland Elementary is a member. The EBB Program is a temporary federal program to help eligible households pay for internet service during the pandemic. The EBB Program provides a monthly discount of not more than $50 per month on broadband service and associated equipment (for example, a modem) for eligible households and not more than $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Each participating household may also be reimbursed up to $100 for one connected device. More information is available on the website under News.If you have questions about the EBB Program, your eligibility to participate, or to find information about participating providers near you, please visit GetEmergencyBroadband.org, call 833-511-0311, or email EBBHelp@usac.org.
